My morning routine:
Before heading downstairs, I tidy up the bedrooms (make beds, close drawers, pick up clothes from the floor etc..)
Once the kids are fed, lunches are made and packed, and they are off to school, I begin my morning. I start a pot of tea, turn on an audible book or my favorite music and begin…
I start by feeding the dogs and cats, so they don’t bug me while I’m cleaning… wishful thinking… Right?!
I typically start in our basement – which is where the laundry room is located (yes – it sucks having it down there). I start a load of laundry, clean the cat boxes and the cat bathroom (I sweep, give it a quick wipe down using vinegar/water with essential oils and I give the floor a quick wipe down with the same vinegar/water/essential oil cleaner.
By the time that’s done – my tea is ready. I sit down, have a cup or two of tea, have my breakfast, and I head back to cleaning.
I load the dishwasher, wipe down the counters, stove, fridge, and dishwasher. I wipe down the kitchen table and then dust the first floor (kitchen, half bath, family room, living room, dining room and office), this usually takes me a total of 20 minutes. I move on to the half bath on the first floor and give it a quick wipe down. Vacuuming comes next.
I vacuum my house daily (we have 2 dogs and 3 cats) but I don’t mind. I have a LOVE relationship with my vacuum – I use the Dyson Animal Canister which makes my life so much easier! Every morning I vacuum the first floor, including the stairs, along with the basement (the cats hang out in our 2nd family room most of the time). I tend to vacuum the upstairs where our bedrooms are 2-3x a week. The pets really don’t go upstairs much so there isn’t a need to go crazy with the vacuum up there.
By the time I’m finished with the vacuuming the washer is done and I swap the laundry. I give the first floor a quick mop using the Rubbermaid Reveal Mop – this mop changed my LIFE! It’s super lightweight and easy to use. I make my own floor cleaning recipes for hardwood floors and tile. Which helps make life that much healthier and inexpensive. Once a week I steam mop the floors using the Shark Steam Mop.
Once the dryer is done – I put the laundry away and my morning routine is done… then I begin on the Zone of the week.
