A couple of weeks ago my kids were both home early from school, along with a couple of my daughter’s friends and we decided to go on an adventure! Somehow our house became the “hang-out” spot for my children’s friends over the years and we usually have a house full of kids; which honestly, I love! The more kids the merrier! Anyway, we decided to spend the afternoon exploring in Burlington, Vermont.
Exploring Lone Rock Point With The Kids
Exploring the 802!
That afternoon my daughter’s friends wanted to explore Lone Rock Point. Lone Rock Point is a beautiful hiking trail that leads to some stunning views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. My son had never been to Lone Rock Point and I hadn’t been there for years! So, of course, we were up for some exploring! My kids and I love hiking because it gives you the opportunity to see all the gorgeous views around our beautiful Green Mountain State. Exploring Lone Rock Point with the kids sounded like the perfect way to spend a Sunny Spring day. Let’s go!
When we left the house it was Sunny and warm outside. Everyone was wearing shorts, tee-shirts and the boys even packed swim gear so they could jump into the lake! But, when we got there 40 minutes later, it was cold, windy and the sun disappeared! Welcome to Vermont! Where the weather changes a dozen times a day! Needless to say, I’m so glad we packed sweatshirts and jackets.
Mud and happy kids
The hiking trail was fairly muddy but that didn’t slow us down one bit. Well, okay… the mud did slow me down a little. But, it was really muddy! The trail is a couple of miles long and the kids were running way ahead of me, which was completely fine as I was enjoying the moment; happy, carefree children, laughing and just being kids exactly what every Mama loves to see.
When we got to the top the views were simply gorgeous even though it was pretty cloudy outside. The kids climbed down a steep bank and sat on the rocks so they could dip their toes in the cold lake. I wasn’t about to climb down all the way, so I stayed closer to the top to enjoy the views. Sadly, my phone was about to die, so I didn’t get to take as many photos as I wanted too. But, that’s real life! I didn’t take the portable charger with me, I left it in the car! OYE! Lesson learned! Always take the portable charger with you!
We decided to head out after about an hour, it was getting colder, and we were all getting hungry. We hiked back to the car and decided to head to the Mall for some dinner and of course a little shopping.
So, if you live in the 802 and you’re looking for something fun to do! Check out Lone Rock Point!
