The morning after my Mom died the lake near my parents home was calm with a hint of chaos. Which is exactly how the moments after my Mom died felt like. Calm with a hint of chaos.
Losing a parent and gaining a puppy
A little back story:
After the hospital,
we all went home to my house. I made my Dad and sister’s breakfast. We had eggs, toast, juice and fruit. I had a giant cup of my favorite green tea. My Dad decided to stay at my house with my kids. While my sister’s and I began the planning process.
When did the puppy arrive?
Keeping the puppy
My husband finally figured out what I was doing and realized we were now the proud owners of 2 puppies. Surprise Lover Boy! He, of course, loves that beagle like crazy and all is well now. We hated the name Sheba even before my Mom died and I for one couldn’t wait to change her name. We had racked our brains for months and months calling her all kinds of names like – Cousin Eddie, Kielbasa, Fatty, Fatty Mags, Magpie, Sausage, Fatty Magee, Turd and Sheebee. Nothing worked, nothing made sense. We couldn’t come up with a name. Finally, because I kept calling her Fatty Mags, my husband came up with Maggie. YES! PERFECTION!
